The Morning View Mennonite Mission Church, six miles (10 km) west of Linville, Virginia, started in 1923 as a Sunday school that had formerly been a union school. Later the work was carried on in a vacant building near by until it became too small to accommodate the congregation. In 1928 a frame church was built.
This church was remodeled and enlarged in 1956. Sunday school was held each Sunday, and preaching twice each month. The membership in 1955 was 42, with Ernest G. Gehman and Clayton Showalter in charge.
On 1 May 2002 the congregation withdrew from the Virginia Mennonite Conference over doctrinal concerns, and became a charter member of the Mountain Valley Mennonite Churches, a group of churches unwilling to join the new Mennonite Church USA.
The congregation had an average attendance of 113 in 2010. The pastors were Richard A. Gullman and Raleigh Rhodes.
