The Mountainview Grace Church in Calgary began services and formally organized in 1995. Prayer began in 1993 for a Chinese church planter in Calgary. The search for a Chinese candidate was a cooperative effort between the [[Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches|Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren (MB) Churches]] Church Extension Commission and British Columbia Chinese MB pastors. David Chan, pastor of Pacific Grace Chinese Church in Vancouver, recommended Andy Ng, a graduate of Prairie Bible Seminary in Calgary and a recent intern at South Calgary Alliance Church. The congregation joined the Alberta MB Conference in March 1996 with 40 charter members.
