Neelken, an Anabaptist martyr, is mentioned in the hymn "Aenhoort Godt, hemelsche Vader" (Hear, O God, heavenly Father), which is hymn No. 16 of the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren. In this hymn Neelken is called a "dochter" (daughter), which usually means an unmarried woman. She was executed at Antwerp, Belgium, in 1559. Van Braght states that she suffered martyrdom with Betgen and Mariken Fransse. It is not clear which martyr is meant here. Génard believes that she is identical with Neelken Jacobs, the wife of Adriaen Pan, executed on 28 June 1559. But in this case the word "dochter" would be rather strange.
