Nicolaes de Penty was an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr. He was  born at Douai, France, and secretly drowned in the Steencastle prison at [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]], [[Belgium|Belgium]] on 4 April 1562, because he "persisted in his rebaptism." His furniture, clothing, and tools were confiscated and publicly sold on 30 January 1562; this indicates that he was then already in prison. Further particulars are lacking, and his trade is not mentioned. He must have been an artisan.

His furniture, clothing, and tools were confiscated and publicly sold on 30 January 1562; this indicates that he was then already in prison.
