Palsters
Palsters (i.e., Pjalzer, Mennonites from the Palatinate), a name given to Mennonite refugees who moved from the Palatinate, Germany, to the Netherlands about 1653 settling in or near Groningen. There is no exact information either concerning this immigration itself nor about the number of immigrants, or about the later adventures of these "Palsters." They may have merged with the 1711 group of Swiss Mennonite immigrants who settled in the province of Gröningen in 1711-1714. (See also Swiss Mennonites in the Netherlands).
