Pekema, a Mennonite family found in the Dutch province of [[Friesland (Netherlands)|Friesland]]. Pekema, a Mennonite family found in the Dutch province of Friesland. Jelle Sippesz Pekema (1863-1942) served as Mennonite pastor at Irnsum-Poppingawier 1890-91, de Rijp 1891-1894, and Hilversum 1894-1904, in which year he retired. Engelbertus Pekema, b. 22 April 1877, at Bolsward, d. 9 September 1950, at Enschedé, was a Mennonite pastor, serving at Mensingeweer 1904-1907, Monnikendam 1907-1909, IJmuiden1909-1912, and Enschedé 1912-1942. He wrote a historical paper on the congregation of Enschedé, which is found in Uit het Verleden der Doopsgezinden in Twenthe (Borne, n.d.).
