Phlein, Christian (17th/18th century)

Christian Phlein, a Mennonite elder in the Palatinate, Germany, wrote a letter to David Rutgers at Amsterdam in 1698, which gives information on the material and spiritual conditions of the Palatine congregations. He stated that some of them were planning to emigrate to America, and that the members of the congregations "all stand in peace one with another." There is apparently no further in­formation about this elder. The letter does not indicate which congregation he was serving.
