Frederik Pijper, a Dutch Reformed theologian, b. 1859 at Hoogwoud, d. 1926 at Leiden. He was professor of church history at the University of Leiden, and coeditor with Samuel Cramer of the Bibliotheca Reformatoria Neerlandica, in which he edited a number of rare 16th-century Reformed books. After Cramer's death he edited volume X, containing the writings of Dirk Philips, with notes and an introduction. In the Nederl. Archief voor Kerkgeschiedenis (II, 1903, 299) he published an article, "Een nieuw entdekt Doopsgezind Martelaarsboek," in which he expressed himself quite critically about it. Besides a number of other books and papers on church history, he published Martelaarsboeken (The Hague, 1924), in which he dealt with the martyr books by Jean Crespin, Adriaan van Haemstede, the Offer des Heeren, and later Mennonite martyr books, and the book by Ludwig Rabus.
