Reichhorst was founded in 1631. Until 1772 Wengeln was located in what was known as Royal Prussia (also known as Polish Prussia) in the Kingdom of Poland. The Prussian 1776 census lists seven Mennonite families in Reichhorst with the following surnames: Dircksen, Ewert, Guhr, Horn, Penner, Peters, and Quapp. In 1820 Reichhorst had 77 inhabitants, of which 43 were Mennonite.
Mennonites who were residents of Reichhorst were members of the Thiensdorf-Markushof Mennonite Church.
