Reichsweiler (French, Ricqueviller), near Rappersweiler, a few miles from Colmar, was one of the first villages in Alsace to admit Swiss Mennonites fleeing from oppression in the canton of Bern. With the help of Beatus Fischer, a patrician of Bern, they settled here as early as 1671.
