Reinfeld Colony, Paraguay, was founded in 1965 on 500 hectares (1,235 acres) of land near San Ignacio, 238 km (147 miles) southeast of Asunción. These families left the Sommerfeld and Bergthal settlements in south Paraguay because they feared an erosion of their faith and tradition. Horse-drawn conveyances are used instead of tractors and cars. In 1986 120 persons in 20 families were in the settlement, of whom 64 were members of the congregation.
