River Brethren

River Brethren, a popular name long used for the denomination known since 1862 officially as the Brethren in Christ. The name is supposedly due to the fact that the group had its beginnings (circa 1770) in an area of western Lancaster County, Pennsylvania near the Susquehanna River.
