Schagen, a Mennonite family, formerly of Alkmaar, Dutch province of North Holland, members of the Waterlander and later the united congregation. Pieter Gerrits Schagen was a deacon in 1674; Pieter Schagen was four times a deacon in 1737-54; Pieter Schagen Jr. 1749-51, and Jan Regter Schagen four times in 1777-1814. Members of this family are the preachers Marten Schagen and his son Petrus Schagen. There was also a Reformed branch of this family at Alkmaar.
