Jaques de Somere (Somer, Sommere), probably an emigrant from Flanders, Belgium, was a member of the Reformed Church at London, England. In 1575 he wrote a long letter (found in van Braght's Martyrs’ Mirror) to his mother at Ghent, Belgium, in which he tells the story of the Anabaptist martyr Hendrik Terwoort and his companions in London. De Somere was apparently on good terms with these Anabaptists, for he wrote very sympathetically about their faith and principles and told his mother that he and a certain Lucas had tried in vain to release them from prison.
