Swichtenheuvel (van Swigtenheuvel), a Mennonite family formerly living at Amsterdam and Utrecht. Jan Jansz Swichtenheuvel, of Amsterdam, published Oprechte Editie, ofte Uytgift van het Geschrift van Doctor Galenus Abrahamsz ende David Spruyt . . . (Haarlem, 1658), the preface of which, written perhaps by Swichtenheuvel himself, shows him to have been an opponent of Galenus Abrahamsz, leaning toward the views of the "Ouderen" (Conservatives, later called Zonists).

In Utrecht some members of the Swichtenheuvel family were deacons of the Mennonite congregation: Gillis van Swichtenheuvel 1716-1718, Cornelis van Swichtenheuvel four times—1735-1737, 1741-1744, 1748-1750, and 1754-1755. Suzanna Swichtenheuvel, who married Jan de Heger, was about 1740 one of the first deaconesses of the Utrecht congregation.
