He was married to Pietertgen Lubbertsdochter, the daughter of Elder Lubbert Gerritsz and was a loyal and liberal member of the church. All of his children were important leaders: Anthoni Jacobsz, surnamed Roscius, a physician and preacher at Hoorn; Lambert Jacobsz, a noted painter and preacher at Leeuwarden; Isaak Jacobsz Rooleeuw, a silk merchant at Amsterdam; and Jacob (Jacobus) Rooleeuw, a dyer and preacher at Amsterdam.
