Born at the village of Shakalongo in the Belgian Congo ([[Congo, Democratic Republic of|Democratic Republic of Congo]]), Tshimika Mutondo attended primary school at the Shambungu Baptist Mission (1930) and was baptized in 1934. He worked as a cook in a missionary home and completed primary school in 1942. Later he completed Emmaus correspondence courses and extension theology courses.
