Pieter Verhelle, b. ca. 1660 at Haarlem, Holland, was a preacher of the Flemish Mennonite congregation at Haarlem until 1693, when he moved to Ham­burg, Germany, and served there from 1694 until after 1710. A sermon of his, Predigt, is published with Roosen's Unschuld (Ratzeburg, 1702). Like his father-in-law, Gerhard Roosen, he held the conservative Zonist doctrines, whereas Jan de Lanoy, also a preacher of the Hamburg-Altona congregation, was more Lamist (liberal).  In his sermons Verhelle often attacked de Lanoy's views.
