Veurne (Furnes), a town in Flanders, Belgium, where an anonymous Anabaptist martyr was executed in 1553. He is celebrated in the song "In bitter-heyt der sielen," No. 10 of the <em>Lietboecxken</em>. The hymn speaks of his farewell to his brethren. This seems to indicate the existence of a Mennonite con­gregation at Veurne, concerning which, however, there is no information; probably this church was the same as that of Leisele near Veurne, of which Maillart de Grave and his wife were members in 1568 and of which Paulus van Meenen was the elder.
