Visvliet, a village in the Dutch province of Groningen, where there was formerly a Mennonite congregation, usually called Kollum and Visvliet. It was probably Leenaert Bouwens who laid the foundation of this congregation by baptizing seven persons at Visvliet in 1551-1554, five in 1554-1556, and six in 1563-1565. Concerning the Mennonites of Visvliet there is only scarce information. In 1643 it is reported that some Visvliet Mennonites had the "insolence to buy a house, which they provided with benches for use as their church." In the next year on the orders of the States of Groningen this meetinghouse was demolished, but the Mennonites continued to hold their meetings. At this time the Mennonites of Visvliet were very likely Ukowallists. Later their congregation belonged to the Groningen Old Flemish conference and was represented at its meetings in 1681 and 1683. By 1700 the congregation had died out.
