Cornelis de Vries (1755-1811), a deacon of the Zaandam-Oost Mennonite congregation, who was at the center of the preparation for the founding of the Algemeene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit  (ADS) in 1811, not only serving as sec­retary of the preparatory committee, but also as the projector of its regulations and rules. He died just after the first meeting of the ADS.
