Dirk Warkentin: elder and minister of the Lichtenau-Petershagen Mennonite Church, Molotschna Mennonite settlement, South Russia; born 7 December 1815, the fourth of six children of Dirk Johann Warkentin (1788-1837) and Susanna (Friesen) Warkentin (1785-1819). Dirk was married to Maria Schwarz (1817-1881) and they had eight children (see additional information for further information regarding Dirk's family). Dirk died 11 December 1869.
Dirk was elected to the ministry of the Lichtenau-Petershagen Mennonite Church in 1841, and succeeded Jacob Warkentin as elder in 1842 when Jacob Warkentin was forced to resign.
