Way to the City of Peace, in Which Is Shown How to Obtain Peace, by Pieter Pietersz (1574-1651), a book of considerable popularity first published about 1625, 5th edition 1642, at least eight editions in Dutch, in addition to at least three editions in his Opera Omnia (two 1715 and one n.d. in Mennonite Historical Library, Goshen, Indiana), a German edition (1790 alone), and two editions of his Ausgewählte Schriften (1865 at Stuttgart and 1901 at Elkhart, both in Mennonite Historical Library, Goshen, Indiana). The book depicts the Christian's journey to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of peace. Its remarkable similarity to Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come (1678) suggests dependency of Bunyan on Pietersz, which however has not been proved.
