Willem Wilde, a Dutch Roman Catholic, published two papers, "De Geloofsvervolging der 16de eeuw" and "Merkwaardige cijfers betreffende de geloofsvervol­ ging," in Studiën, 1877 and 1894. In these papers he accused T. J. van Braght of partiality and inexactness in his <em>Martyrs' Mirror</em>. Wilde was opposed by Samuel Cramer in Doopsgezinde Bijdragen 1899, 70 ff. Thereupon Wilde published Zonderlinge Critiek (Amsterdam, 1900), and Cramer replied in <em>De Zondagsbode</em> and in Doopsgezinde Bijdragen 1900, 191-210.
