Abraham B. Yoder (1867-1953), a leader in the [[United Missionary Church|United Missionary Church]], was born in Elkhart County, IN, the son of Henry B. and Elizabeth (Bixler) Yoder, taught grade school for sixteen years. He was converted at the age of twenty-three, entered the ministry in 1896, and was ordained in 1899. He married Mary M. Myers on 31 August 1899. They had one child, Ray O. Yoder. He held pastorates at Shambaugh and [[New Market United Missionary Church (New Market, Iowa, USA)|New Market]], Iowa, and at Elkhart, Bethel, Wakarusa, South West, Pleasant Hill, and [[Goshen (Indiana, USA)|Goshen]] in the Indiana Conference. He served as Presiding Elder in the [[Indiana Conference of the United Missionary Church|Indiana Conference]] for twelve years; was delegate to a number of general conferences, and served as Chairman of General Conference in 1920. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the [[United Missionary Society|United Missionary Society]] for many years, a member of the Executive Board of the United Missionary Church, and editor of the [[Gospel Banner (Periodical)|<em>Gospel Banner</em>]] 1925-1943.
