The Amnestie-placcaat (proclamation of amnesty) was issued by [[Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor (1500-1558)|Emperor Charles V]] concerning the [[Melchiorites|Melchiorites]] or [[Anabaptism|Anabaptists]] in the [[Netherlands|Netherlands]] on 27 February 1534. The Amnestie-placcaat (proclamation of amnesty) was issued by Emperor Charles V concerning the Melchiorites or Anabaptists in the Netherlands on 27 February 1534. According to the proclamation, though both those who had performed rebaptism and those who have been rebaptized had forfeited life and property, they would receive pardon and be restored to favor if they applied to their confessors within 24 days with a solemn declaration of repentance. On 20 March 1534, after the term was closed, only 15 Anabaptists had reported.
