In the 16th century the territory of Brabant comprised the present Belgian provinces of Brabant and Antwerp and the Dutch province of North Brabant. Accordingly, a martyr song refers to the city of Lier, which at present is located in the province of Antwerp, as Lier in Brabant. In the former territory of Brabant not many Mennonites were to be found outside the city of Antwerp, nor were the martyrs as numerous here as in Flanders and Holland. In the present provinces of Antwerp and Brabant there are no longer any Mennonite congregations.
