Claes (d. 1563)

Claes (Nicolaes de Swarte), an Anabaptist martyr, the son of Jan de Swarte, born at Nijpkercke (Nieppe), Belgium, was taken prisoner at Halewijn (Halluin) in the Belgian province of Flanders, and on 17 March 1563, together with his father, put to death by burning at the stake at Rijssel (Lille) in France.
