Community Christian Fellowship Ministries (Detroit, Michigan, USA)
Community Christian Fellowship Ministries in Detroit, Michigan, began in October 1989 when Sam Wilson and Rod Williams began a Bible study in the Wilson home in the east end of Detroit. The Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC) launched this plant as part of a plan to develop a new network of Mennonite churches in the Detroit area by 2009.
It began Sunday worship services in summer 1990 as the Christian Community Fellowship in rented storefront facilities on East Warren Avenue. Samuel A. Wilson served as the first pastor. After several moves to larger locations, it purchased the former St. David Catholic church, convent, rectory, and school at its East Outer Drive location in 2005. The conference provided a grant of $50,000 to assist in the restoration of the facilities undertaken by the congregation, which had an attendance of 400 at that time.
The congregation began an after-school program in 1992 that had 800 participants by 2006. In 2005, it began a drug rehabilitation facility.
The African American congregation became a self-supporting member of the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference in 2005. In 2012, it hosted the regional conference's annual meeating, but, it developed a more distant relationship to the conference in the following years. On its Facebook page in 2024, it identified itself as nondenominational, although it was still listed as a conference member on the Indiana-Michigan Conference's website.
