Cypress Hutterite Colony was founded in 1975 as a division from the Homewood Hutterite Colony.

MillsHof Hutterite Colony (Glenboro, Manitoba, Canada) and Clarion Hutterite Colony (Kamsack, Saskatchewan, Canada) are daughter colonies of Cypress Hutterite Colony.

In 2023 Cypress Hutterite Colony was a Schmiedeleut Group 2 colony.
