Damian, an Anabaptist martyr of Allgäu, was executed at the stake at Ingolstadt in 1543. He was apparently a Hutterite. On the way to the site of execution he addressed the crowd in such a way that a student said, "One thing must be true. This man has either a devil or the spirit of God, since he knows so much when he is apparently a humble person." The judge was also conscience-stricken.
