Elm River Hutterite Bruderhof ([[Schmiedeleut|Schmiedeleut]]), one mile west of Newton, [[Manitoba (Canada)|Manitoba]], was founded in 1934 by Preacher Zacharias Hofer and ten families from the [[Rosedale Hutterite Colony (Elie, Manitoba, Canada)|Rosedale Bruderhof near Elie]], Manitoba.
