Hays Gospel Chapel began services in 1986, and formally organized in 1988. The first building was occupied in 1986. The congregation originated through outreach by the [[Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church (Vauxhall, Alberta, Canada)|Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church]]. The congregation held its last service on 8 November 2009 and officially closed at the end of that year. Attendance had dropped in the years leading up to the congregation's closure, and the church was unable to find a replacement for Helmut Isaak, who had resigned in June 2007.
