Mennonite Orphan and Childrens Aid Society was organized in Halstead, Kansas in 1893 for the purpose of caring for orphans and other needy children either by keeping them at an orphan home or placing them with Christian families. This organization was started in order to give opportunity to a wider circle to share in the Christian service to homeless children which was started when the Leisy Orphan Aid Society was incorporated in 1884. The organization held annual meetings and printed its activity reports. Annual memberships were available for $5.00 and life memberships for $100.00. A total of 426 membership certificates were issued. Later the Mennonite Orphan and Childrens Aid Society merged with the Leisy Orphan Aid Society.
