The Gap Mills Christian Fellowship began discussing colonizing a new congregation in 2000 and 2001. The first families moved to the Renick, West Virginia area in September 2002. Regular services began in January 2003. A property with an old house on it was purchased and renovated for church use. Mahlon Petre was the first and only minister for the group.

The congregation did not fare well, and was no longer listed in the 2009 Mennonite Church Directory. Its membership in 2007 was 21.
