Verhandlungen der Diener-Versammlung
Verhandlungen der Diener-Versammlung, minutes of the Amish Mennonite Ministers' Conferences held annually 1862-78 (except 1877) before district conferences were organized. The minutes for 1862-64 and 1868 were published by John Baer and Son, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and the remainder by John F. Funk and Brother of Chicago (1866) and Elkhart. Among the discussions recorded are the controversy over baptism in a creek, meetinghouses, the function of deacons, teamster service under military control, pensions, singing at funerals, offering a reward for the return of stolen goods, interest rates, investment in government bonds, and the restoration of a bishop who had been guilty of adultery. Names frequently mentioned in the minutes are John K. Yoder (1824-1906) of Wayne County, Ohio; Samuel Yoder (1824-1884) of Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; and John P. King (1827-1887) of Logan County, Ohio, all of whom were born in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. Mennonite Historical Library (Goshen, Indiana) and Mennonite Library and Archives (North Newton, Kansas) have full sets of minutes.
