Vries, Cornelis de (1755-1811)
Cornelis de Vries (1755-1811), a deacon of the Zaandam-Oost Mennonite congregation, who was at the center of the preparation for the founding of the Algemeene Doopsgezinde Sociëteit (ADS) in 1811, not only serving as secretary of the preparatory committee, but also as the projector of its regulations and rules. He died just after the first meeting of the ADS.
