Willem Hoedemaker (hatmaker), an Anabaptist martyr, was arrested during a meeting near Doornik, Belgium. He was first brought to Doornik, thereupon to Bergen (Mons), where he was tried, and finally burned at the stake at Obignies near Doornik in 1558 (exact date unknown) with five other brethren, all of whom remained steadfast.
