Harmony Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Murray, Kentucky, USA)
The Harmony Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation near Murray, Kentucky, USA was established in 1990. The congregation started after two brothers from Rosenort, Manitoba, Canada explored the area as a possible destination. The Colonization Board approved the location and twelve families began to arrive from Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and elsewhere. The congregation is also located in a county with a significant Old Order Amish and Midwest Beachy Amish population, a potential target for mission outreach.
The congregation first met in the former Harmony Primitive Baptist Church near Farmington, Kentucky. The building was so drafty that it was wrapped in plastic in winter, and services were often canceled in cold weather. In 1993/94 the congregation built a school with an auditorium large enough to serve as a church. A new church building was completed in 1998 and dedicated on 26 July 1998.
The Harmony School began in a home and machine shop in fall 1990. This operated until the new school facility was completed in 1994.
In 2004 the congregation established the Mount Pleasant Church of God in Christ, Mennonite near Fulton, Kentucky.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Donavon Koehn, Jeff Goertzen, and Sam Lehman.
