Robein Mennonite Church (East Peoria, Illinois, USA)
The Robein Mennonite Church began in 1950 between Washington and East Peoria, Illinois, as a mission of the Roanoke Mennonite Church. It held services in a public school.
The congregation received a shock when its young pastor, Eldon Kortemeier, drowned in Lake Kabetogoma in Northern Minnesota on 23 August 1960. The boat in which he was riding with his wife, three children, and a sister, capsized in a sudden storm. All the other boat occupants were rescued.
In its later years, it was called the Mennonite Community Church of Robein.
The church closed in about 1976 partly because of internal differences of opinion among the congregation's members over issues of Fundamentalism.
