Prairie Church of the God in Christ, Mennonite (Arthur, Illinois, USA)
The Prairie Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation north of Arthur, Illinois, USA was established in 1992. The congregation started after Arthur residents Mark and Ruth Pinson were baptized in 1990 at Versailles, Missouri. They were encouraged to open their home for fellowship. In 1991 three other families moved to the area, and they began to meet in homes for worship and to conduct a school for the children. Some families from Versailles would come once a month to join in worship.
In late 1991 the group rented a building in Arthur, and on 26 January 1992, the congregation organized. The mission board of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite placed a couple, Chester and Ruth Koehn, to assist in the work. The board also purchased a home with a large room behind the garage to serve as worship space and school. In 1996 the congregation purchased five acres of land at its present location. The first services were held on 25 August 1996.
The church operates the Prairie Mennonite School.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Greg Wenger and Charles Yost.
