New Life Community Church (Henry, Illinois, USA)
The Trinity Mennonite Church in Morton, Illinois, planted the Trinity New Life Mennonite Fellowship in Henry, Illinois on 29 April 1984. The impulse to start the congregation went back several years to when Gary and Sandy Eidson, from Trinity Mennonite Church, moved to the Henry-Lacon community. They traveled back to Morton, 45 miles away, for worship on Sundays. They soon brought friends as well. In 1982, the Trinity congregation released its pastor and wife, Mahlon and Dorothy Miller, to conduct Wednesday evening Bible studies. In September 1983, morning worship services were begun. Ron Garber began to serve as pastor on 29 April 1984. The Illinois Mennonite Mission Board also provided early support.
The congregation initially met in space in a former bank building. In 1989, it began construction of a building on three acres of land in the northern part of Henry.
In about 2004, the congregation changed its name to New Life Community Church. Within two years it had also withdrawn from the Illinois Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
